2004-10-30 - This entry represents the installation of a new organ. Identified from personal knowledge by James R. Stettner. -Database Manager
2005-12-30 - Updated through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- The organ contract was negotiated through Balcom and Vaughan of Seattle, the U.S. representatives of Gebrs. Vermeulen. The cost was approximately $30,000.00. The case, made of German oak, stands approximately 18 feet tall. Work on the organ was begun in May, 1970, and the installation was completed in August, 1971. Installation was accomplished by Frans Vermeulen assisted by three Balcom and Vaughan employees. The Hauptwerk 8' Prinzipal has its first 37 pipes en façade. -Database Manager

PEDAL MOVEMENTS: Brustwerk expression (balanced). [Notes recopied from the dedicatory program]:
Installation and finishing was by Mr. Franz Vermeulen, 8th generation son of the firm assisted by Balcom and Vaughan Pipe Organs of Seattle, representatives of Gebr. Vermeulen. Specifications were drawn by Eugene M. Nye, tonal consultant with Balcom and Vaughan, George J. Seidel, O.S.B., and the Vermeulen firm. [Notes from Balcom and Vaughan files]: Work on this organ was begun in May, 1970, and the installation was completed in August, 1971. An article in *The Sunday Olympian* for Sunday, July 25, 1971 listed the organ as having 968 pipes. Most of the pipework is of 80% tin. The Pedal 16' Subbass has wooden pipes as does the Hauptwerk 8' Holzgedackt. The first 12 pipes of the Brustwerk 8' Spitzgedackt are stopped wood, and the remaining metal pipework is 40% tin. The Hauptwerk 8' Prinzipal has 37 pipes in the facade. The case, made of German oak, stands approximately 18 feet high. The cost was approximately $30,000.00.
