2010-10-03 - Updated through on-line information from John Dill. -- The organ was originally in the Christian Scientist church in Ardmore, OK. When it was sold back to Wicks the Vox Humana was replaced with a Small Trumpet or Fagot leaning more towards the Trumpet. The bottom octave of the Diapason was added at this time as well. Between the time the organ was built and sold back to Wicks a 16' Subbass was added consisting of twelve pipes only. The Zymblestern was built and added by John Dill during the installation in 1997. A second set of swell shades from the Chapel Organ from First Baptist Church Denton were also incorporated since the organ's tonal chamber required two sets and only one came with the organ. -Database Manager

2010-10-04 - Updated through on-line information from John Dill. -- The Wicks truck left Highland, Illinois on May 18th of 1937 and installed it that week. The telegram (Western Union) was sent to a Miss Majorie Williams in Ardmore, OK on May 9, 1937 and reads: TRUCK LEAVES HERE MAY EIGHTEENTH WILL INSTALL THAT WEEK, WICKS ORGAN COMPANY. Miss Williams (the church clerk) wrote in Sept. 9, 1937 a letter about "adjustments" that were necessary and were performed by a Mr. Gimpel. Mr. Gimpel (a technician from Oklahoma City) was not with the Wicks Organ Company and made adjustments to the Pedals and the church asked Wicks to pay the $12.50 bill for several hours of work. -Database Manager

Zymbelstern RANKS: 5 PIPES: 385 NOTES The organ was originally built for the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The Wicks opus list gives the year as 1939, but other opus numbers around it are all dated for 1937. It seems likely that the organ was contracted in 1937, but not installed - for whatever reason - until 1939. In 1997, Wicks removed the organ to their factory, refurbished it with cleaning and mechanical upgrades, and reinstalled it at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Gainesville, TX. It is installed in a chamber on the front, right side with both nave and chancel non-speaking façade pipes. The console is in fixed position on the right side below the nave façade.
