2010-08-11 - Identified through on-line information from T. Bradford Willis, DDS. -- According to an article in the Waco Sunday Tribune-Herald, May 18, 1941, the Torbett Memorial Organ will be dedicated on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Harrell Memorial Chapel. The dedicatory recital will be performed by Professor Robert A. Markham. "The Torbett Memorial Organ was built by the Huaco Pipe Organ Company of Waco with specifications and details of erection under the personal supervision of Robert A. Markham. The organ contains 18 stops, together with a full set of couplers, and 547 individual pipes, besides 20 tubular bells forming the chimes. It is located in a specially built room above and to the left of the basement." -Database Manager
2010-08-12 - Updated through on-line information from T. Bradford Willis, DDS. -- The Torbett Memorial Organ was given in memory of John Cornelius Torbett by his son, Dr. J. W. Torbett of Marlin, Texas. The Harrell Memorial Chapel was dedicated by Bishop A. Frank Smith on April 18, 1941. -Database Manager
