Notes

2016-02-01 - Updated through online information from Steve Bartley.
An article in April or May 1940 provides some information and the specification. The article highlighted Kathryn Cline, a grad of the Peabody Conservatory who had been instrumental in securing the organ for the LaGrange College Auditorium. In recent years the College was contacted and provided two photos of the organ on the stage of a small auditorium.

The Diapason article went on to say the organ had been originally built in England in 1800 and was shipped to Baltimore and assembled by Pomplitz for a Trinity Methodist Church in Atlanta. Pomplitz had not come to the States until 1851. There were several organs imported to Baltimore from Britain, but none as large as this.

The photos are not clear enough to discern if the case could be that early a date, but the specification is typical for Pomplitz organs during these years and the years following his death (1874), when his wife was running the company. -Database Manager
