2010-11-02 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- Mr. DeMarse was a member of this parish and former organist. The organ was partially a gift from him with the parish paying only for materials. The organ was dedicated October 24, 2003 by Felix Hell. In October 2010, parish priest Fr. Joseph G. Busch made it his mission to have the organ literally ripped out of the church, and against directives from a Diocesan Chancellor who said it could be removed IF it were placed with another parish. Fr. Busch blocked the parish who wanted it from seeing or hearing it. He has used a report from a structural engineer saying there were safety concerns about the weight of the organ in balcony - yet the balcony was rebuilt with reinforcements before the organ was installed. Six organ firms were called in to assess the organ. Five of the six gave positive reviews. Major outrage has happened over this, and letters to the Bishop of the Diocese of Albany have been written en masse demanding an investigation and disciplinary action. The organ is already lost-destroyed and in a dumpster in front of the church. Foley-Baker, however salvaged the pipework. -Database Manager
