2013-12-20 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by Timothy E. Conyers, based on information from various friends in my hometown where the installation took place. Also found websites confirming installation.. -- Dick & Linda Wilcox bought the former Union City Fire Department Station #1 in about 2009. The building was remodeled and turned into a community center. It is used for concerts, dances, receptions and various community events. The main attraction of the building is a huge theater pipe organ the Wilcoxes purchased in Florida prior to their relocation to Union City.<br>The organ is known as the 1926 Page Theater Pipe Organ. I assume the name refers to the original builder of the instrument, although it could be the name of the theater in Florida from which the instrument was rescued. Several concerts have been performed on the instrument since its installation. It has become somewhat of an attraction for theater organ enthusiasts in the surrounding area.<br>Also housed in the building is the 1973 Timbers Conn Pipe organ, the largest electronic theater pipe organ ever made by Conn Organ Corp. of Elkhart, Indiana. (see separate entry) and a Circus Wagon with Calliope custom built by Hank Bahmer.<br>Dick Wilcox invented and developed the Uniflex Relay System, the "computerized control system which allows [musicians] to define and control the organ using state-of-the-art microprocessor controlled interfaces connecting the console and the pipe chambers." -Database Manager

Conyers. <br>The instrument was restored with the assistance of Carlton Smith Pipe Organ Restoration of Indianapolis, Indiana, and David Bottom Pipe Organ Restoration of Lexington, Kentucky.<br><br>A Uniflex relay was installed. The chamber is at floor level in the front of the room with four clear "windows" (these are actually the swell shades) allowing a view of the pipes and percussion features. There are no walls separating the various divisions within the chamber, as a result, the entire instrument is under expression.<br><br>Swell shades are made of a clear material which allows one to see the various features of the instrument at work as it is played. Inside the chamber is a drawknob console Mr. Wilcox uses to test his Uniflex Relay System. At a recent concert, Mrs. Wilcox stated that the instrument is still a work in progress. -Database Manager
