2013-02-07 - Identified through online information from Rev. Van Herd. -- New console for existing Wicks organ.<br>The console was replaced with a Holtkamp-style 3M portable console in the mid-1990s by Robert Sipe out of Dallas. Not sure if he did any re-voicing. Eleanor Whitsett, sometime organist there, told me that this was due to electrical switching problems in the original 4M console. The sanctuary underwent a minor restoration in 1999, at which time the Sipe console was moved to the center of the chancel as the choir loft was made into an open "stage" with flexible seating. This new console now sits on the L side of the chancel, down on the sanctuary floor. I heard the organ in both its original and new states and, while it has always spoken with a near-Baroque clarity, it always seems very soft and "disappears" easily, especially with congregational singing and/or with the very accomplished church orchestra they have. -Database Manager
