2020-05-02 - The original console has been replaced with a 1970 Schlicker console. This work was most likely done by Guzowski & Steppe. There are no exposed pipes over the main entry/doorway or anywhere in the sanctuary. The playable stoplist matches the Opus 83 stoplist. Opus 304 from Miami Beach Community Church does not appear to have been relocated to this space or added to this organ. The organ is playable, but in need of repair. -Seth Carlson
2023-06-07 - Update on 1st Presbyterian Church of Miami Organ ID# 48043 The original organ console was replaced in the spring of 2016 as it was damaged structurally and would not have survived being relocated to the north balcony. The replacement console was built in 1970 for the Schlicker organ that was at Bethesda By The Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach. Guzowski & Steppe Organbuilders, Inc. of Ft. Lauderdale had been using the Schlicker console as a "loaner" console at various other churches in the southeast while their consoles were at the G&S shop for overhaul/updating. As for Opus 304 from Miami Beach Community Church. It was indeed installed (partially) in the back of 1st Presbyterian Church's sanctuary but was removed around 2018 as it never was made playable and the church wanted the space for new audio equipment. The same can be said about opus 304's Great division. The chests and pipes are there but were never made playable. 1st Presbyterian Church of Miami has decided to remove the organ and remodel the organ chambers and convert them to classrooms for their school. The organ is being broken up and some 15 ranks are being saved. It's unfortunate that the 16' open wood and 16' Gemshorn pipes and chests cannot be saved as there is no way to remove them intact as they were installed before the plaster grillwork was installed. -Douglas Cable
2023-06-14 - Organ being broken up for parts/pipes. -Douglas Cable
