2023-03-30 - From the NYC AGO NYC Organ Project, Steven E. Lawson: This organ was moved from an unknown theatre in Philadelphia [to the Hebrew Orphan Asylum, Brooklyn, NY] sometime before 1913. Estey's Shop Order (Sept. 14, 1912) states that there were bronzed front pipes and oak woodwork. A note was made that the Swell Box was "to open at back for tuning Vox Humana." The entire organ was on 5" wind pressure, with the note, "Voice very loud." Odds are that the organ was never installed in Philadelphia and went directly or immediately to the Hebrew Orphan Asylum in Brooklyn. -Jeff Scofield
