2011-07-20 - Identified through online information from Fred Harlan. -- Estey Opus 119<br> Removed from the First Methodist Church, New Kensington, Pennsylvania, on the day after Easter 1962. Eleven rank, two manual, tubular pneumatic. The Great and Swell chests were originally situated on top of the 8- X 4- reservoir, Great in front of the Swell. The reservoir can be filled either by a blower or by hand lever actuating two large bellows which formed its bottom. (I no longer have the bellows). The electro-pneumatic primaries add to the width of the chests, which now measure 30" wide for the Great and 45" for the Swell, and measure 7" bottom to top boards. The chests are ventil type, with a separate vented wind box included in the 7" measurement for each rank. The Swell chest has a cross-windway under the wind boxes to communicate with the Tremulant beater which is mounted on the back inside wall near the top of the swell box. The swell box measures 61 ½" high above the top board of the chest. The swell shades originally were connected directly to the swell pedal of the console.<br> All of the false front pipes, along with the support rails, including the turrets and the frame supporting the upper ends of the pipes, have been retained. As much as possible, the original tubular-pneumatic action and hardware have been kept, but the console is dismantled. The organ was converted to electropneumatic and the primaries for the Great and Swell chests were made by the Erie Organ Supply company. The 16- Pedal Bourdon and the offset pipes of the Great Open Diapason were not set up. The 16- Resultant was generated by coupling the Great to the Pedal with a 5 1/3- coupler. With fuller registrations, the Swell with its 16- Bourdon coupled to the pedal filled out the lower end of the tonal range. The Pedal Bourdon was originally situated on two small chests, one on either side of the organ and very close to it. Successive pipes in the scale were placed on alternate chests. These chests measure 38" x 13" x 5" high rack board for all but the lower 12 pipes which were supported by the frame. All of the pipes except the Pedal Bourdon and the lower 12 pipes of the Swell Bourdon are stored in 14 pipe trays, which are designed to be stackable. -Database Manager
