2011-10-13 - Updated through online information from Robert Holland. -- While I was a student, organ lessons were taught on this organ at the time as there was no organ at the university. I had the opportunity to play on this organ quite a bit back in 1971-73. It was a very nice organ for a small 3 manual, and had a nice sound, though the acoustics in the building were a bit dry. I have not played this organ since I was in college there, but I understand the church had it replaced with an electronic instrument when some maintenance was needed on the Schantz. What a shame!! -Database Manager

2012-02-28 - Updated through online information from Robert Holland. -- While I was a student at Northwestern State University from 1969-1973, this organ was used to teach lessons on as there was no organ at the university at the time. The Church organist also taught at Northwestern. I was able to practice on the organ frequently from 1971-73. The organ was very well balanced for a small 3-maual and had a quite nice sound, though the sanctuary was a bit on the dry side. There were some pipes exposed on each side of the choir loft, and there were preparations for addition of 5 ranks, though these were never added. I understand that the Schantz was replaced with an electronic organ when some routine maintenance work was needed. I hope that the organ finds a home someplace where it will be used again. -Database Manager
