2011-10-24 - The organ was originally built by W. W. Kimball in the late 1890's for the Studebaker Theater in Chicago. Kimball moved it to this location in 1904 or 1908. The organ was rebuilt and expanded in 1955 by Kilgen Organ Company. This work by Schantz was to completely rebuild the instrument and expand it to 115 ranks. Much of the Kimball/Kilgen pipework, as well as the Kimball casework, were retained. -Database Manager
2012-11-28 - Updated through online information from John Seboldt. -- I have e-mailed folks from Schantz to respond more authoritatively on the organ's status as a new organ which includes pipework from previous organs. They will confirm also about whether older casework was included. -Database Manager
