Notes

2012-04-18 - Identified through online information from Ron Yeater. -- Mr. Dane was C.E.O. of the Boston Symphony Association, and his wife was an accomplished organist. The organ was moved to the Eliot Church (UCC) in Newton, Mass ca. 1950 after a disastrous fire which destroyed the previous organ in the church. By this time, the Danes were no longer living at "Roughwood" and one or both may have been deceased. The organ was downsized in the move, with two of the 32' stops and much of the Solo division going to a party in California. The organ was removed ca. 1987 for an organ by George Bozeman which incorporated 8 ranks of the Dane organ. Several ranks were sold to Nelson Barden of Boston for incorporation the the Boston University symphonic organ. Other ranks were stored at the Bozeman shop. The beautiful, carved console, which seemed to have several Skinner components, was sold. -Database Manager

When installed in the Eliot Church, Newton Mass. in the late50's, the organ was rather severely downsized in order to fit into the chamber
space. Since each division was on more than one main chest, it was comparatively easy to eliminate one and re-arrange the desired
ranks on the other. The entire Solo division and 2 of the 32' stops were eliminated completely. 8 ranks of this organ now play in the
George Bozeman organ in the church, the rest was dispersed.
