2012-08-30 - Identified through online information from Michael D. Kirchanski. -- Rebuild and electrification of existing Kimball organ.

I played this organ when I was a high school student from 1967 to 1969 for the 5:30 Sunday Mass and during Lent for the Stations of the Cross. In 2008, the Schoenstein Organ Company of San Francisco, under the direction of Jack Bethards, renovated this organ. In doing so, they removed the tubular pneumatic connection to the windchests and replaced it with electro-pneumatic action. By doing so, they were able to add several stops through unification. In addition, they revoiced the pipes to match the size of the church. 42 years ago, the action was sluggish and unresponsive. The tone of the organ was sweet but did not fill the room and was difficult to lead the congregation in hymns. Now the action is very crisp and responsive. The organ is capable of filling the room with sound and is suitable even for Bach preludes and fugues. -Database Manager
