2013-01-10 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by Scot Huntington, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- Following the fire which destroyed the old building, the congregation rebuilt on this site. The organ is laid out horizontally in reflective wooden enclosures, in the attic space above the long and narrow chancel in the pseudo-colonial brick building. The ceiling of the chancel is entirely grill cloth, through which the organ speaks. The organ has been voiced exceptionally boldly to get beyond these acoustical obstacles in order to be heard in the nave, where the tone softens quickly the further one gets from the chancel steps. -Database Manager
