2013-02-05 - This entry describes alterations to an existing organ. Identified by Alex Smith, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- Organ's placement is unique: placed halfway down left wall of historic church building designed by Frank Furness, located in a loft. Ruckpositiv is exposed pipework, along with Pedal 16' Principal. Console is located in loft, fixed position, barely visible from the sanctuary below. On left side of console behind pedal 16' Principal C side is the 16' Subbass and 16' Posaune. On the right side behind the C# side of the Pedal 16' Principal is the Swell chamber. Above the swell is the Great division, and above the pedal 16's are the pedal upperwork stops. Also located with pedal 16's is the Harp/celeste (referred to on console as chimes), which was an addition in the late 1970s by a former organist from a Kilgen organ. Modifications to original Casavant specs were primarily tonal- done by an organist to take away chiff, tone down mixtures, etc. Changes made to stop list included moving the SW Krummhorn to the ruckpositiv and adding an oboe to the Swell, with the knopfregal being removed. A 32' Resultant was added. The Ruckpositiv 2' Octave was renamed blockflute and revoiced. Joan Lippincott served as organ consultant for original installation. -Database Manager
