2022-11-02 - This instrument dates from the 1840's and is the gift of Betty Payne (Mrs. William) Wirt. It was purchased in England and installed in St. Peter's gallery in 1 854. It was brought down to the rear of the nave and equipped with an electric blower in 1934. Springs are attached to each of the three right-jamb stops, and in order to keep any one of them drawn, the notch on the underside of the shank must be made to catch into the j amb. The FOOT LEVER farthest left will release whichever of these "above-unison" stops that are drawn. The other FOOT LEVER, left of center, is the hold-down swell pedal. -- *1964 OHS Handbook* -Paul R.
