Notes

2013-02-23 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by Thurlow Weed, based on information from technical information from Wicks.. -- This entry describes the original installation in 1952. The organ was expanded in 1969, and received very significant changes in the 1979 rebuild, including a new console. Please refer to the additional listings for more information on these two expansions. -Database Manager

2013-08-18 - Updated through online information from Thurlow Weed. -- There has been some discrepancy between the spec sheet from Wicks -- which also contained voicer's notes -- and with what is actually in the chamber. Examination of pipework in the chamber, along with further archival records from Wicks, appears to have finally resolved the question of how many Felgemaker ranks were re-used in the Wicks. It appears that the four of the seven ABF ranks were re-used, as follows:

Sw 8 Viola became Sw 8 Salicional TC; bottom octave reinstalled 1969

Sw 8 Stopped Diapason remains as Sw 8 Stopped Diapason

Sw 4 Flute became Sw 4 Hohl Flute. (not wired from St Diap as originally specified)

Gr 8 Dolce became Gr 8 Dulciana TC. Bottom octave reinstalled 1969. This rank was moved to be Sw 8 Voix Celeste in 1979.

The re-use of the majority of Felgemaker ranks is significant for this church, as the original Felgemaker was a gift in memory of Mary Elizabeth Sherman Reese, the sister of Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman; the organ was a gift from the Sherman & Reese families. -Database Manager
