Notes

2013-05-23 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by John Speller, using information found in "The Diapason," 1:2 (January 1910), p. 5. -Database Manager

2025-02-13 - This organ, designed by W. H. Donley of Indianapolis and built by the Bennett Organ Company of Rock Island, IL, was a two-manual instrument with an echo organ and chimes and was built at a cost of $6,000. It was installed in the Scottish Rite Cathedral prior to its dedication in November of 1909. The Scottish Rite purchased the former Shrine Auditorium in 1953 and moved all of its operations there in 1958, at which point the old Scottish Rite Cathedral sat largely empty and unused. The structure was demolished in 1967. I do not know whether the organ was moved prior to the demolition of the structure, but it is at least not extant at this location. Information received online from Nathan Bienz on 2025-01-26 -Paul R. Marchesano

2025-02-13 - The original Scottish Rite Cathedral in Fort Wayne was on the corner of Washington and Clinton Streets. This building, which sat next door to the Masonic Temple, no longer exists. The Scottish Rite bought the Mizpah Shrine building on West Berry in 1953. -- Scottish Rite History in Fort Wayne blog, accessed 2025-02-13 -Paul R. Marchesano
