2013-09-20 - Identified through online information from William A. Gaskarth. -- This was the relocation of Casavant Opus 227.
The original organ was built for Knox Presbyterian Church on Center Street, Calgary. When the new Knox Presbyterian church (now United) was built in 1913 this organ was relocated to Trinity Presbyterian church in East Calgary. Before the move the organ had been enlarged and given a new four manual console about a year after it had been installed. Pictures of the console and the organ are contained in the personal archives of the late D. Stuart Kennedy. The organ survived until there was a fire in Trinity church in the 40s or 50s and the parts were dispersed. Only the case front of the organ survives. As of March 10, 2013 Trinity United Church was incorporated in Canada West District of Church of the Nazarene. -Database Manager
2017-02-03 - Updated by William A. Gaskarth, listing conversations with this person as the source of the information: D. Stuart Kennedy archives.
The organ was more than likely mostly destroyed by fire in 1921. There is a facade however it appears to be a reconstruction. Whether the pipes in the facade are imitation or from the original organ is uncertain. In the chamber you could see slight evidence of the fire. Visited the church in January 2017.
Correction: Originally a Methodist church not Presbyterian. -Database Manager
