2014-08-28 - Updated through online information from Burton Tidwell. -- This organ was built for Holy Cross and installed at their original site on North Oliver, Wichita. In the 1990s, the church outgrew facilities and sold the buildings to another church. The Schantz was left in place and the console covered with a protective wood housing. The new owners had no use for a pipe organ but agreed to store it until Holy Cross was ready to move the organ. Holy Cross Lutheran (Missouri Synod) first built a large new school on the Greenwich Rd. site and worshipped in temporary facilities at the school for several years. By the time the new worship space was to be built, a donor gave money for a significant mechanical action organ, which was contracted with Von Beckerath in 2000 and completed in 2002. The Schantz was sold some time previously to a church out of state. Details unknown. -Database Manager
