2014-03-29 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information from this web site: http://barton.theatreorgans.com/cgi-bin/db2net.exe?D2NDb=c%3A%5Cdatabases%5Corgans.mdb&D2NProject=search&OOL.Mfg=Kimball&StartNum=651. -- The Knickerbocker opened on March 22, 1916 with Buel B. Risinger as organist and orchestra conductor. The main organ pipe chambers were above the proscenium and there was an echo pipe chamber in the balcony. This organ could be played manually or with an automatic roll player. A grand piano was attached to the console which also allowed the organist or roll player to use that instrument as well.<br>The organ was moved to Nashville's First Lutheran Church circa 1940.<br>The theatre closed on February 4th, 1961 and has since been torn down. -Database Manager
