Notes

2014-07-29 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information found in The American Architect, March 17, 1909. -- Photograph in the magazine The American Architect, March 17, 1909 describes the then new First Universalist Church and the architect Horace B. Upjohn. The photograph shows a sumptuous 1907 gothic revival building including a deep chancel with the pipe organ on the left side. Simple pipe fence facades face the chancel and the nave. There is no mention of the organ builder. The gothic revival building was destroyed by fire in 1984 and the congregation moved to a new site. The congregation is now known as All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church. -Database Manager
