2020-06-20 - In 1914-1915, the instrument received its fourth manual. It was designed by Albert D. Jordan, church organist. Karn-Morris Piano & Organ Co, of Woodstock, ON., was awarded the project at the cost of $12,847. The new Solo division was split into two divisions: the first on 12" of wind, the other on 15". The organ now had 66 stops and over 4,000 pipes. There was no Echo division, but the effect of one was uniquely devised as follows. A large metal duck (4' across) was installed from the top of the Swell box, up through and across and above the church Ceiling, where it opened into the main space of the sanctuary between the wooden pillars that support the central dome. The duct had it own set of swell shutters, controlled by its own "Echo" expression pedal. To use it, the organist had to use the Swell manual, close the main Swell shutters, and use the Echo shutters to control the volume. -Jeff Scofield
