2014-10-04 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by Paul S Butkus, using information from this web site: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=6DS7WFnF4J4C&dat=18721122&printsec=frontpage&hl=en. -- According to an article in the Meriden Daily Monitor, this organ was delivered on October 31, 1872. The first concert was played November 29th, 1872 by Professor Shephard with Professor Phillips directing the choirs. Concert attendance was about 300. (Concert review found in the Meriden Daily Republican Nov. 30, 1872) The church itself was enlarged by 20 feet at this time and the organ was installed as part of the expansion. -Database Manager
