2014-10-14 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by David Hansen, based on personal knowledge of the organ. -- This organ was moved from the original Taylorsville chapel on 1252 W 4800 South which was built in 1840 and later moved to the new "West" bulding in the 1970s. The old chapel was sold by the LDS church and has seen numerous owners. It is currently an Islamic center. As to the Organs history in the old chapel I am not sure. I grew up worshiping in the new building for many years. My mother was an organist here and I spent many hours listening to her practice on this instrument.<br>Editor's Note: The Reuter Opus List does not contain an entry for an organ in Taylorsville, which was not incorporated as a separate city until 1995. This organ may well be Reuter Opus 579, installed in the Taylorsville Ward, LDS, in 1939. Or several Reuter organs in Salt Lake County, this appears to be the best possible match for an older instrument relocated in the 1970s. -Database Manager
2014-10-20 - Updated through online information from David Hansen. -- On the front of the organ outside the main chest there are three sets of pipes mounted in a circular fashion. These are non-functional. The smaller ones in between them are functional. The two wood ranks on the side are also functional and I believe are part of the Bourdon rank. I am not sure of the exact number of ranks since I am not an expert. -Database Manager
