Notes

2015-02-13 - This entry describes alterations to an existing organ. Identified by James R. Stettner, using information found in Andover Organ Co. Newsletter, 2014. -- The organ renovation and enlargement was part of a $2 million church renovation undertaken by the congregation in 2012-2014. All mechanical parts were restored, repaired, or replaced as necessary. The H-V reservoir was re-leathered and restored to its original double-rise configuration. A new silent blower was installed within the chamber. The organ received five new ranks of pipes: 2-2/3' Twelfth and 2' Fifteenth on the Great (while the IV Mixture was reduced to III); 8' Celeste and 8' Trumpet on the Swell; and a full-length 16'/8' wooden Trombone on the Pedal. The original slider chests, chest frames, and swellbox were all modified to accommodate the additions. The Pedal received a new slider/pallet duplexed windchest allowing the original 16' Bourdon to also play at 8' pitch along with the 16'/8' Trombone addition. The console keydesk and terraced stopjambs were widened, and the 1960's European-style stopknobs were replaced with vintage rosewood and ebony drawknobs with oblique faces and newly engraved inserts. The organ had been removed to the Andover shop in October 2013, and was returned in early May 2014. The organ resumed its musical duties Memorial Day weekend. And on August 6th, the organ was opened to the Nantucket musical community in a candlelight concert played by J. Reilly Lewis of Washington, D.C., and St. Paul's own organist, Ann Colgrove. -Database Manager
