2016-02-21 - Updated through online information from T. Bradford Willis, DDS.
The following information was at the end of the stoplist from the Gress-Miles Organ Company: The Church of the Redeemer remains the center of the charismatic movement in the Episcopal Church. Services include a wide range of music from traditional organ literature through Anglican anthems to folk music and newly composed music for the large choir, instruments, and organ, along with enthusiastic congregational singing. The organ required unusual versatility, with a wealth of color and the flexibility of two enclosed divisions. The church is a shell-shaped concrete structure with live acoustics. The organ is located at the Gospel side with a facade of 16', 8' and 4' Principal pipes which extends the lines of a large central mural. -Database Manager

2016-03-16 - Updated through online information from T. Bradford Willis, DDS. George Ellis Mims, D.M. sent the following information concerning the dedication of the Gress-Miles organ at the Church of the Redeemer. Katherine Thomerson played a dedicatory recital and Betty Carr Pulkingham, wife of the rector, composed an anthem "God has gone up with a shout" which was performed by the choir. -Database Manager

2016-06-23 - Updated through online information from T. Bradford Willis, DDS.
The original church was known as the Eastwood Community Church and was founded in 1919. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle on February 25, 2011, the current edifice was to be closed in February 2011 due the structure needing $7 million of repairs to bring it up to code. The congregation was then to share the edifice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer of Houston. -Database Manager
