2015-03-30 - Architect Richard Morris Hunt was commissioned by William K. Vanderbilt to design the church so there would be a respectable church near his estate - Idle Hour, in nearby Oakdale; Hunt had also designed the Vanderbilt homes like Biltmore in Asheville NC and The Breakers in Newport RI; the church is possibly the only Norwegian stave-type church in the US; the Tiffany windows are spectactular; in 1992, the church made a large down payment for their new Moller; Moller cashed the check and promptly closed its doors; Wicks took over the job, somewhat redoing the Moller Artiste stoplist. -Database Manager
