2019-04-05 - The parish was originally founded as the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, renamed St. Andrew's Church in 1914, and renamed St. Mary's Church in 1927 -- perhaps to avoid confusion with the Presbyterian Church in Welland, which is named St. Andrew's. (The originally Casavant contract lists St. Andrew's Church, adding to some confusion; information confirmed by Michel Jacques, Casavant Frères Ltée.) The instrument is still extant as originally installed, except for the substitution of a IV Mixture in place of the Great Trumpet. -Database Manager
