2012-10-04 - Updated through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- The Tracker, Summer/Fall 2012, reports that a 1/4 horsepower Spencer Orgoblo blower was added in 1930 (serial number 24174), but the original bellows lever is extant, and still works. The blower was rebuilt c. 2002. The mother of a church member, Joseph Ouderkirk, rewound the core by hand. In 2005 a roof leak damaged the organ, and non-invasive repairs were made by Sid Chase, organ curator since 1973, mostly by on-site drying out over three months. Twelve pallets were taken to Chase's shope, where they were dried and resurfaced with new leather and felt. The organ is 1/2 step below A440, equal temperament. The facade features 21 beautifually stenciled pipes, original, 17 are for the bass of the Diapason; four (nos 2,3,19,20) are dummies. The case is quarter-sawn white oak. The swell pedals are unusual, square, of wood, and project from the keydesk base near the floor on wooden levers. One, the left, shuts the swell shutters; the other, the right, opens them. One rises as the other is depressed. -Database Manager
