2015-08-13 - Organ relocated without any change. Identified by Andrew Barss, based on personal knowledge of the organ. <br><br> This organ was decommissioned by its original owner, Milton Christian Church, was rescued by a group of community and RCCO volunteers, and was relocated (with some mechanical and electrical modifications) to Sherbrooke Village Museum (www.sherbrookevillage.novascotia.ca). <br><br>This instrument was one of Casavant's "Orgues de salon" series instruments with a freestanding case and integrated console. Originally a hand-pumped, pneumatic-action organ, an electric blower was added sometime during the 1930s or 1940s. <br><br>The action was converted to electro-pneumatic in 1984 at which time the console was separated from the case. The move to Sherbrooke Village resulted in modifications to the organ as follows:<br><br>The mechanical swell linkage, previously located below the platform on which the organ was installed, was relocated to a small conduit between the console and case; <br><br>The wind supply and curtain valve were relocated on the main chest in order to accommodate the relative positions of the case and, on the floor below, the blower and concussion bellows;<br><br>The console electrical system was updated by replacing the original rectifier with a modern power supply;<br><br>Since this instrument is now located in a historic village museum site, a blower shut-off switch was included on the back of the case, in order that the organ could be hand-pumped if desired, and a timer was substituted for the main power switch on the console in order to prevent the possibility of someone leaving the instrument running unattended for an extended period of time. -Database Manager
