2015-08-18 - After the America Theatre closed in 1930, the organ was removed and put in storage. After three years, the City of Denver, which had acquired the orgn on a tax lien, put the instrument up for auction. It was sold to the only bidder -- the man who had maintained the organ since its installation -- for $285. The organ was later sold to the Pillar of Fire Church and installed in their Alma Temple. Around 1970, the organ was removed by a speculator, who took it to Tawas City, Michigan, and stored it in a chicken coop, awaiting a buyer. -Database Manager
