Notes

2015-10-13 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information from this web site: http://www.landmarktheatres.com/milwaukee/oriental-theatre/kimball-organ.

Kimball Op. 6946 was built in 1927 for the Stanley Theatre, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but was not installed there. Stanley theatres were loosely associated with Warner Pictures and when the new Warner Theatre was being planned for Milwaukee, Op. 6946 was shipped and installed there.

It remained in the theatre until 1973 when the hall, now known as the Grand Theatre, was remodeled. The organ was removed and put in storage. Ultimately, the organ was relocated to Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre where it was renovated and enlarged. -Database Manager
