2015-11-29 - This is a rebuild of an existing organ. Identified by John Novak, based on personal knowledge of the organ.<br><br>The Castile UCC organ was originally installed in 1893 by the S S Hamill Co of Cambridge, MA and was a tracker consisting of 13 ranks of pipes. In 1948 it was electrified by the Kohl Co. of Rochester, NY and a new console was added. <br><br>This process replaced the mechanical tracker action with an electromagnetic one, however, the chests and the pipe work remained unchanged. In 1963 the church added a new sanctuary and the organ was moved from its original location to its present location by William Hatzenbuhler of Tonawanda, NY.<br><br>There was no revision or addition to the instrument at this time; it was simply moved. By the 1970's the chests (from 1893) were beginning to fail and the church wanted to upgrade the sound of the instrument. To this end the services of the Delaware Organ Co. of Tonawanda, NY were secured to perform a major upgrade and revision.<br><br>In 1971 the Great and Pedal divisions were rebuilt and a new console with a combination action was added at a cost of $20,000. The Swell was rebuilt in 1977 at a cost of $15,000. All chests were replaced, but most of the old pipework was retained and an equal number of new pipes were added. -Database Manager
