2015-12-13 - This entry describes alterations to an existing organ. Identified by James R. Stettner, based on personal knowledge of the organ.

Robert J. Reich was the organist of the church at the time the tonal changes were made, and was also on staff at the Andover Organ Co. of Methuen, Massachusetts. On the Great, the 8' Flauto concerto was removed, and the shared bass applied to the 8' Flautileno. In its place a III Ripieno 2' was installed. On the Swell, the 8' Viola Ætheria was cut-down at scale to become a 4' Octava Clara. Similarly, the 4' Salicetto Dolce was cut-down at scale to become a 2' Quincena, and the 2' Violettino was cut-down at scale to become a 1-1/3 Nondecima.

By 1969, the building and organ had become the property of Montefiore Synagogue. When the building was razed in 1970, the organ was purchased by organ buff John Merriman and stored in Methuen, MA. In 1973 it was offered for resale through the Organ Clearing House for $2,500.00, and relocated to St. John's Episcopal in Kirkland, Washington in 1974. -Database Manager
