2016-02-12 - Organ relocated without any change. Identified by David Poile, using information found in "Flentrop in America" by John Fesperman.<br><br>This two-manual, nine-stop organ was built by Flentrop Orgelbouw in 1973 for display at the International Organ Festival in St. Albans. According to Flentrop's website, after the festival it was moved to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland. This organ was likely loaned temporarily to the Cathedral while either their 1976 two-manual, thirteen-stop organ or their 1977 three-manual, thirty-nine stop organ was being built by the Dutch firm.<br><br>The date of this installation in Trinity Cathedral is uncertain, but it is probably 1974. The contract for the large gallery organ was ca. 1974. According to John Fesperman in his book "Flentrop in America,� in July 1974 after the contract was signed, the Cathedral's architect altered Flentrop's original design for the gallery organ. This upset the organbuilder and he personally travelled to Cleveland in November 1974 with Hans Steketee to defend his original design. Perhaps this is when he also delivered the St. Albans organ.<br><br>In 1977, this St. Albans organ was moved to Warren Wilson College in Swannanona (Asheville), NC. Fesperman, however, lists this Wilson College organ as a new one built in 1976. There is no evidence that there are two organs by Flentrop at this college. -Database Manager
