2016-05-21 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ. Identified by William Dunklin, using information found in David Junchen, The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, an Illustrated History, p643.<br><br>The Cody Theatre was renamed San Fernando Theatre around 1935 and retained that name until it was was heavily damaged by the Sylmar earthquake, February 9, 1971 and was torn down shortly afterward. Opus 834 was a standard style "D."<br><br>The D and its variants were among Wurlitzers most popular models. This version of the "D" was a single chamber installation, as opposed to the "stereo" installations where parts of the organ flanked both sides of the proscenium. 834's fate is unknown, but likely destroyed. -Database Manager
