2018-03-13 - Updated by William M. Worden, who has heard or played the organ. St. Catherine's Chapel is a part of the SS. Peter & Paul Jesuit Church complex. The organ was in the balcony and stood against the liturgical south wall of the chapel. It was still there in the early 1970s but has been gone for many years. The chapel has gone through several generations of alternative use since I last saw the organ, including lecture hall use for the adjacent law school of the University of Detroit Mercy and so it has not been used for church purposes for decades. The space has now been converted to a social space for the parish and a shelter for the homeless. Additionally, on March 20, 2018, William M. Worden listed this individual as a source of information: John A. (Jack) Dymond, organist of the church c. 1950-1980. The organ was in a freestanding case that was placed against the liturgical south wall of the chapel toward the front of the rather deep balcony. The chapel was converted to non-liturgical use several decades ago. The organ is listed as three ranks but might have been four. -Database Manager
