2004-10-30 - OCH from St. Jakobi Lutheran, Allison, IA; later moved to new bldg. (St. James Lutheran). via Ray Whipple residence, Waterloo, IA 1976. Installed here by Randall McCarty. 1 tonal change. Case made narrower. Compass 61/30 -Database Manager

2007-05-07 - Updated through on-line information from James R. Stettner. -- As originally built, this organ was designed to fit into a right corner - having a front and a left side. The facade was three-sectional containing 27 pipes arranged: 8-11-8. The pipes were stenciled, and the left side was a simple "window pane" wooden grille with cloth covering. As reinstalled in Seattle, the organ was placed in the front, left corner of the sanctuary, so the former left case became the right side. It was altered to have a 3-sectional facade of 17 dummy pipes arranged: 5-7-5. The case had to be narrowed to avoid covering the front windows, the the front facade was changed to 19 pipes in 3 sections arranged: 4-11-4. The shape of the original facade was altered slightly, and the added right-side facade is a smaller imitation of the front facade. The pipes were re-painted white with gold mouths and a gold band at the top. All manuals stops are divided into treble (37) and bass (24). The 8' Open Diapason is the only unenclosed rank - with the first 19 en facade and operated by tubular-pneumatic action. The original 8' Aeoline was replaced with a used Hinners 4' Principal - reportedly from a church in Spokane. The drawknobs still say Aeoline. -Database Manager

2021-09-02 - Note transferred from a duplicate page. **Jim Stettner on February 19, 2021:** The congregation disbanded in 2020 and the property was sold to another congregation who did not want the organ. The organ was removed in 2020 by the Pipe Organ Foundation of Mercer Island, Washington assisted by organ builder Tim Drewes. It will be relocated to one of two Catholic Seminary chapels in Palo, The Philippines. -Jim Stettner

NOTES
The organ was originally built for St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in Allison, Iowa.
It was moved some years later to the new church building for St. James Lutheran
(St. Jakobi, Anglicized). The church contracted for a new organ in 1975, and the
Hinners was sold to Mr. Ray Whipple of Waterloo, Iowa and placed in storage.
While still in storage, it was again offered for sale and was purchased by the
Vereinige Deutschsprachige Kirche (German U.C.C.) of Seattle through the Organ
Clearing House of Harrisville, New Hampshire. It was installed by Randall J. McCarty, organist of the church, and replaced an electronic substitute. Mr.
McCarty had to narrow the case and alter the facade. The 8' Aeoline was also
replaced with a 4' Principal from a Hinners built for a church in Spokane,
Washington. The drawknobs are still labeled as Aeoline Bass and Aeoline Treble.

The 12 bass notes of the 8' Viola d'Gamba are grooved from the 8' Liebl Gedackt
Bass. The 8' Open Diapason is the only non-expressive manual rank. It has 27
zinc basses, 19 of which are in the facade and operated by tubular-pneumatic
action.
