2009-06-27 - Updated through information posted to OHS Members List by Scot Huntington June 27, 2009: -- "I last saw the organ in 1988 while making a survey for the new owners, and the pipework was rather complete at that time. It started life as a large two manual "cathedral" scale H&H built during Hastings' magnum opus period (Holy Cross Boston, Cincinnati, 1876 Centenial, etc.). The organ was enlarged on e-p ventil chests by H&H, adding a choir division (including their patented tube-blown wooden Concert Flute) and additional stops on the other two divisions (mostly modern string stops, and the organ repitched ). The enlargement accounts for the present impacted layout. The original 1875 pipework was preserved without revoicing. This is the church where Lizzie Borden's father was a deacon, and no expense was spared in its construction or appointment. The facade is gilded 16' Principal basses down to low C. The console case is original, and high-style Eastlake in black walnut." -Database Manager
