2016-09-24 - Identified through online information from Don Frank Hermanson. -- This is a rebuild and relocation of an existing organ.
I am Don Hermanson, Organist-Choirmaster at First Lutheran/Galveston (since Jan 1990). The move, installation and improvements were done by a local Houston technician: the late George Babb, who was the area Schantz representative at the time. Mr. Babb did away with the original Pilcher console, and installed a Schantz two manual console, placed permanently at the rear of the right side transept chapel. He also added three ranks: Great 4' Octave, Great/Pedal 16/8/5 1/3/4/2 2/3/2 Gemshorn, Swell/Pedal 8' Trumpet.
This organ ceased to exist after the 2008 Hurricane Ike, eventually replaced by our A. E. Schlueter organ in 2014. All 17 ranks were reused in the new organ. -Database Manager
