2008-09-20 - Updated through information from Cullie Mowers: -- Estey made an open wood sax which sounds something like a gamba on steroids. In church organs it was called "Cor Glorieux", but "Saxophone" in secular instruments. The only example I've heard live is in a large 3m at St. John the Evangelist in Binghamton, NY (#2491, 1926). the beautifully-made pipes and the stop tab were labelled "Cor Glorieux", but the chest and all the wiring said "Sax."
