2017-05-29 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.<br> Identified by William Dunklin, citing information from this publication: <i>The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, an Illustrated History</i>, by David Junchen, p 653.<br>Style D, stock 6 ranks and percussions in a single chamber. This organ was installed as part of a large scale remodeling of the Appleton Theatre following a fire and 1924. The Wurlitzer replaced an early Robert-Morton/California Organ Company instrument installed +/- 7 years earlier (q.v.). The Appleton Theatre was sold, renamed The State Theatre. It closed, was badly damaged in an 1989 earthquake and was razed shortly afterwards.<br>In 1962 the organ was relocated to a private residence and subsequently moved numerous times.
