Scharf pg 585; Baltimore Sun Sept 12m 1891 pg6.
Built in 1877, this church was a mission of the St. John's Independent Methodist Church on Liberty St. which also had a Neimann rebuild of their Pomplitz Organ, about the same time.
By the early 20th century the congregation had merged with Trinity Methodist Episcopal South, which was nearby. The St John's building was sold to the Payne AME congregation, who occupied it until the late 20th century, replacing the building, on the same site, with a new one. -Database Manager
