Notes

2017-10-17 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.
Identified by William Dunklin, citing information from this publication: a vintage postcard.
A postcard from circa 1905 shows twin organ cases standing in the church's wrap-around gallery, one case at the extreme forward end on each side. The era and the cases' positions suggest either a tubular-pneumatic or electro-pneumatic key action, further suggesting the replacement of the church's 1868 Wm Johnson organ, opus 251. In 1981 the church purchased an Austin organ, which as of 2017 is also located in the gallery but at the center rear. The Austin utilizes parts of the ca. 1905 case(s). Photographs on the church's website in 2017 show no organ cases in the forward position. -Database Manager
