2018-03-23 - Updated by William M. Worden, who gave this as the source of the information: I know the history of Ebenezer AME.<br> Since this entry has no address., it leaves open the possibility that the organ was in one of two buildings. Ebenezer was in a 19th century frame church on Calhoun Street near Beaubien Street in 1919 and remained there until 1935 when the area began to be cleared for a federally funded housing project. The congregation then bought the former Shaarey Zedek synagogue building at Willis and Brush, which had been opened in 1915. The organ might well have been built for Shaarey Zedek and ended up with Ebenezer. The Shaarey Zedek building burned to a shell in 1960 and the remains were demolished. Whichever Ebenezer building this organ was in, the building is gone. -Database Manager
