Lynn Dobson reports Pedale 16 Open Diapason gone, existing metal 8'rank extended with unique wooden caps to make it speak at 16' pitch; Clarinet and Tpt in Gt. gone. Oboe in Sw. extant. Pipes in good condition. From Baptist Church, Meridian, CT (who got Steere in Jan 1911). Moved to Beaverville with Carnegie funds. -Database Manager
2009-01-06 - Updated through information from R. H. Artman: "Ste. Mary's Church, Beaverville, Illinois has just completed the interior decorating phase of this historic church. Now, attention will be directed to other projects within the interior, of importance, the opus 303 Johnson organ. The first stage of this restoration project will entail a thorough cleaning. After this, inspection of the chests, reservoirs and other mechanicals to determine necessary repairs. All of this work will be completed through voulenteers. All of this work will be done under strict supervision of a qualified organ builder. this project will no doubt take time and as funds become available." -Database Manager
2012-03-08 - Updated through online information from Kristina Powers. -- Organ fully restored and playable as of 2009; was played again for the first time in 30 years on Christmas Eve, 2009. Organ's tonal structure unaltered in its 142 years of existence; Christ Is Our Hope Magazine labels it "... the finest remaining example of an original, unaltered instrument in existence in the Diocese of Joliet and in the state of Illinois" (page 31, September 2011 issue) -Database Manager
2013-12-07 - Updated through online information from Ronald H. Hartman. -- The organ now has the 16 double open wood diapason installed along with a 8ft. trumpet and a 8 ft. clarinet. These were all installed along with a refurbishing in year 2010. It is a marvelous instrument in use again, being played on most Sunday Masses and in special concert, one special one by Dr. Ovid Young -Database Manager
