Notes

2018-12-01 - This entry describes a new home for an organ that was relocated without either tonal or mechanical changes. <br>Identified by James R. Stettner, listing conversations with this person as the source of the information: Andrew M. Dunn, Music Dir..<br>In an email from Music Dir. Andrew M. Dunn to me on November 30, 2018, he states, "The organ was built by Edward Lye & Sons in, we believe, 1932, making it one of the last produced before they restructured as The Lye Organ Company in 1933. <snip> We also know it was not originally built to be installed in Bolton United Church, but was first installed elsewhere (we're not sure where) and then moved and modified to fit the space in our Sanctuary. It has not subsequently been modified or expanded; to do so would require major changes to the existing space as there is barely enough room around the instrument to squeeze in behind for maintenance <snip>. The organ is a two-manual (Great and Swell) tracker with pedalboard, and also has a two-octave set of electrically-actuated tubular chimes set in the middle range of the Great <snip>. The organ has a complete set of couplers for Great to Swell, Pedal to Great and Pedal to Swell." -Database Manager
