2022-03-16 - The church was erected about 1835 and the first keyboard instrument used to accompany services was the two-rank c. 1855 S. D. & H. W. Smith melodeon, still in the gallery. The unusual little pipe organ was given about 1888 by J. Montgomery Sears of Boston, and the assembling of it may have been done at that time. However, it has the general appearance of an organ built before the Civil War, and there are even older parts, including what are evidently English pipes of the 18th century. The plain case of three flats has an interesting recessed keydesk with hinged doors; the chest has, at the front, room for at least three more stops; the keys are quite unusual in design. The St. Diapason is of wood, with bored stoppers from Middle C. The Fifteenth was taken out in 1942 during a "renovation," but was replaced in 1964 by the Andover Organ Company. -- *1966 OHS Handbook* The Handbook attributes the date of the organ as c. 1850. -Paul R. Marchesano
2025-02-11 - The house is again on the market for $1.9 million as of January 2025. Real estate images show the organ to still be extant. Condition is unknown. -Jim Stettner
